Poison Ivy

LEAVES OF THREE BEWARE OF ME!

Poison Ivy rash is caused by an allergic reaction between the plants sap (containing urushiol) and a person's skin.  The best way to handle poison ivy is to avoid it.  If children come into contact with poison ivy, wash exposed skin areas with soap and cold running waters as soon as you can.  There are now products on the market that help prevent reactions to poison ivy.  In severe cases, call your family doctor.
